What’s Doctor at Home

Doctor at Home is exactly as it says “Doctor will come to your home”

Medicine has come a long way and is modernized so much that it has left a gap between the patient and the doctor. There was a time in the past when doctors visited patients at their home. Going to a doctor’s office takes a lot of time and effort, and in todays world its tough to get all things covered in a short time.

Being a receiver of health care (as my older daughter has down syndrome) and being a provider, I have seen our health care system up close. There’s no doubt that we need to change the system. I have heard this statement far too often in the last 15 years but nothing has changed. In fact the burden of documentation in todays world leaves less actual time for a doctor with a patient.

If the system doesn’t change then one needs to become the system and bring the change, that’s exactly what Doctor at Home is about.

About me

I did my medical schooling in India. Have been married to Rashmi, my wife for the last 22 years & we have two daughters. We were blessed with our older daughter in 1999 who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome, which prompted me to move to the USA for her. My younger daughter was born in Anderson.

I did my residency training at University of Pittsburgh and after completing it in 2005 I came to Anderson and since then have been an ‘Andersonian’

I am a board certified Internal Medicine doctor (Internist) with a passion for our elderly population.

I have been practicing in Anderson for the last 15 years. I worked full time as a hospitalist at AnMed till 2016 and I still continue to be an Internal Medicine faculty at AnMed health. Thereafter my vision to change the health care system brought the inception of Divine Hospice through which I provide home hospice care in Anderson, Oconee & Pickens counties. I think I am one of the very few physicians in our country who go to patients' homes to provide home hospice care. I also provide Internal medicine services to dementia units at the Condor Health skilled nursing facility and few patients at Garden House assisted living facility.

My passion is to provide personalized care. Being a receiver due to my daughter who has downs syndrome as well as being a provider of healthcare I have realized over the years that personalized care is much needed.

How did I change the system??

I did that by two simple ways

  1. I will come to your place of domicile and at the time you ascertain. (6am-9pm)
I don’t want you to be my patient according to my time and where my office is but I want to be your doctor according to YOUR TIME and at YOUR HOME.
  2. I will come to your home and leave ONLY WHEN YOU ARE SATISFIED with each and every medical concern you may have. You will decide how long I be at your home, my clock doesn’t decide that.

(I only see only 2 patients a day so you know that I am not rushed)

4 years ago I envisioned a personalized health care system where I could bring the doctor and the patient more closer and bridge the gap. I started Divine hospice through which I personally go to more than 100 homes in Anderson, Oconee & Pickens counties every year.

I take pride in providing  with EXCELLENT care which I will strive for always.

My only disclaimer to you is that the care that I will provide, will be exactly the same as if I did for my family.

My expertise is in providing Consultative Internal Medicine Care & Palliative Care Consults at home.

I will try my best to get you OR your loved one better, and the good lord will help us.

Services I provide

Palliative care Consultation

For your chronic medical condition
Palliative care can begin at diagnosis, and at the same time as treatment.

(Meaning if you have a medical condition which is advanced and you are undergoing active curative treatment for that – Palliative care can improve your quality of life while you pursue/continue active treatment – None of your active treatment is stopped)

Internal Medicine Consultation

For your regular medical issues

Hospice care begins after treatment of the disease is stopped and when it is clear that the person is not going to survive the illness.

(Whenever hospice is mentioned some feel that doctor is going to stop all medications, sedate and expediate death – That’s not true – If I was the surgeon general of our country – I would change its name to “comfort” – Goal is to be at home…..under their own roof….continue simple treatment at home for comfort…..be pain free….go to the lords place in sleep whenever ‘he’ decides)

Palliative care and Hospice are often confused as to what they are.
Both enhances, comforts, and improves the quality of the patient’s life.
